Potassium-lithium electrolyte can be bought in Kharkov in Novohim online shop of chemicals.
IMPORTANT: Potassium-lithium electrolyte packing is 3.5 kg (dry substance), which allows to make a ready solution of 10 litres.
Ready liquid electrolyte can be prepared independently by adding dry electrolyte powder 3.5kg to distilled water in volume of 10l. Instructions on how to prepare electrolyte for batteries with your own hands below the text.
It should be noted that the main sphere of application of dry potassium-lithium electrolyte is preparation of solutions for refuelling transport batteries:
- trams
- trolleybuses
- electric car
- loaders of mining equipment and other specialised machinery.
The presence of caustic lithium in the electrolyte solution makes it possible to extend the service life of batteries three times. In addition, up to one thousand working charge-discharge cycles of nickel-cadmium batteries can be performed.
The advantage of lithium in the electrolyte is undeniable, especially in winter.
Potassium-lithium dry electrolyte application
In the production of alkaline batteries
Dry potassium-lithium electrolyte is used for preparation of solutions used to charge alkaline batteries capable of operating in the temperature range from -40°C to +40°C. They are used in the automotive industry, mechanical engineering, including specialised, mining.
It should be remembered that when making the solution it is strongly recommended not to use galvanized, tinned, copper, aluminium, lead, ceramic and glassware. In addition, the containers used for the preparation of electrolyte of acid batteries. Clean iron, cast iron or plastic containers fitted with airtight lids should be used.
Instructions for use of dry potassium-lithium electrolyte:
- To obtain the electrolyte solution, fill the container with the required amount of water
- Then, into which the solid alkali is carefully introduced in small portions or the liquid alkali is poured in a thin stream
- By stirring the solution with a plastic, ebonite, steel or glass instrument, correct the density of the electrolyte and its temperature.
- The solution should then be allowed to stand for three to six hours
- Drain the top clarified part and use it to fill the accumulators.
It is recommended to store the ready solution in hermetically sealed glass containers. It is also necessary to ensure that the electrolyte in the batteries is replaced in a timely manner, as prolonged use of alkaline electrolyte batteries leads to a 20-30% loss of capacity.
