Description and characteristics:

Copper chloride is an inorganic substance, a salt of copper and hydrochloric acid.
It has poor solubility in water, but dissolves well in hydrochloric acid and solutions of chloride compounds of alkali metals, as well as in ammonia water.
Copper monochloride is stable in dry air, but begins to oxidise in high humidity.
In nature, copper monochloride is part of the rather rare mineral nantokite.

Appearance:

Copper chloride is a white to pale green powder. Copper chloride is produced industrially in the process of copper chlorination, as well as by reducing copper dichloride in the presence of hydrochloric acid at 80°C.

Packaging, transportation and storage:

Copper chloride is packed at the production plant in paper or polypropylene bags with a liner. Copper chloride is transported by rail in covered wagons or by road in covered vehicles.
