What Is This Product
A 40% ethylene glycol solution consists of 40 parts by weight of ethylene glycol and 60 parts by weight of distilled water.
For example, 100 kg of finished solution contains 40 kg of ethylene glycol and 60 kg of distilled water.
The product is supplied already prepared, so there is no need to mix concentrated ethylene glycol with water on site to obtain a 40% solution.
However, this product is not a formulated inhibited heat transfer fluid.
It contains no:
- corrosion inhibitors;
- antifoaming agents;
- stabilizing additives;
- other functional components typically used in formulated heat transfer fluids.

Crystallization Onset Temperature
For an aqueous ethylene glycol solution containing 40 wt.%, the reference crystallization onset temperature is approximately −24 °C.
Crystallization onset does not mean that the entire volume freezes solid immediately.

Limitations
Ethylene glycol is toxic. Product selection must therefore take into account the risk of contact with people, animals, food products, or potable water.
40% Ethylene Glycol Solution should not automatically be used:
