Application of Chrome 12 in galvanic electrolytes on the basis of chromic anhydride provides formation of shiny durable chromium coating. It is applied to the surfaces of parts made of ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

Instructions for use of gloss additive for chrome plating.

Chromе 12 concentration in electrolyte solution is 8-12 g/l. Chromium anhydride technical GOST 2548-77 – 270-350 g/l, at the temperature of liquid medium 48-50°C. And also the ratio of anodic and cathodic surfaces is 2:1.

Preparation of electrolyte:

1. To prepare the electrolyte, fill the container to 2/3 of its volume with demineralised warm water.
2. Dissolve the required amount of chromic anhydride in it with stirring
3. Bring the volume of the bath to the desired volume by adding the required amount of water.
4. It is then recommended to perform an analysis that determines the amount of chromic anhydride and sulphate ion.
5. If necessary, lower the concentration of sulphate ion with barium carbonate at the rate of no more than 2 g/litre of barium for every 1 g/litre of sulphate ion.
6. After separation of the sludge, the electrolyte is decanted and poured into the working bath
7. Into the same bath the required amount of self-adjusting additive Chrome 12 is introduced. With periodic stirring and maintaining a temperature of 55 ° C for four hours. At the same time, the electrolyte should be run with a current of 0.5-1 A.

Сorrection with chromic anhydride is carried out by lowering its concentration below 270 g/litre. In addition, self-adjusting additive Chrome 12 in the amount of 300 g per 10 kg of chromic anhydride.

The solution thus obtained has a high covering power. In addition, it is sufficiently efficient without the use of additional anodes and is characterised by stable electrolyte operation and high current yield.
