Chromium (III) oxide appearance:

Chromium oxide appears as a powdery green solid. In industry, there are several ways to produce green pigment: decomposition of ammonium or potassium bichromate at high temperatures, and decomposition of chromium hydroxide or oxide at temperatures up to 1000 °C.

• Soluble in sulphur dioxide solution. Very poorly soluble in water, alkalis and acid solutions.
• Very hard and refractory material. Its melting point exceeds 2400C. In terms of hardness, trivalent chromium oxide is comparable to such minerals as corundum
• In reactions with alkalis in the presence of an oxidising agent, chromium oxide is oxidised to chromic acid salts. It can be reduced with strong reducing agents.
• It can react with aggressive acids, forming trivalent chromium salts
• Depending on the method of production and application, chromium oxide III is available as metallurgical (OHM), abrasive (OHA) and pigment (OHP).Packaging, transportation and storage:Chromium oxide III is packaged at the manufacturing plant in paper or polypropylene bags with a liner weighing 25 kg. Chromium III oxide is transported by rail in covered wagons or by road in covered vehicles.
