Description of calcium fluoride

Calcium fluoride, or the naturally occurring mineral fluorite, is a white crystalline powder that is poorly soluble in water. This is due to its poor solubility. Calcium fluoride is a low-toxic compound, similar to barium sulfate.
Calcium fluoride is the main source of fluorine and its compounds on a global scale. In the laboratory, calcium fluoride is synthesised by the interaction of calcium carbonate and hydrofluoric acid.
It is non-flammable. It decomposes when exposed to sulfuric acid and it is during this decomposition reaction that hydrofluoric acid is obtained.

Calcium fluoride is packed in polyethylene bags with a liner weighing 25 kg or in 1 kg bags.
